About Us

Ards Model Aircraft Club was formed in April 2019 with the aim of promoting safe and responsible operation of all forms of RC model aircraft. Our membership, whilst small, has combined RC flying experience of over 80 years and across many different disciplines of RC aircraft.

With the kind permission of Ulster Flying Club, we operate from Newtownards Airport and enjoy the excellent facilities that this site offers. The club is fully affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and all pilots have registered competence with the Civil Aviation Authority.

Safety is our top priority and we have worked hard with UFC to ensure that both full-size aircraft and ourselves can operate together safely in the airspace at Newtownards.

As a club, we are strong supporters of the BMFA Achievement Scheme. We have our own BMFA qualified instructors and examiners who can provide training and certification across fixed-wing, rotary wing, multi-rotor and silent flight.

We actively encourage our members to obtain their A-certificate in their chosen discipline.
